The history of coffee.

Now, you’re probably wondering where did coffee first start? How did the demand for coffee get so high? Well, let our nutritional counseling experts give you the 411. Depending on who you are speaking to coffee was discovered either in Yemen or Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian legend goes that a goat herder, Kaldi, discovered coffee beans. Kaldi noticed that one of his goats ate these “berries,” and they did not sleep. All night long the goats were alert and energetic.

Kaldi explained this discovery to the local monastery. An abbot decided to make a drink out of the “berries” and discovered that the berries kept him alert at night. The monk told the others in the monastery, and thus, the news started to spread.

The coffee started to move to the east to the Arabian peninsula. It was here where the coffee beans started to travel around the world thanks to trade.
